Community Health Maps

This is the most requested workshop. It is a bring your own device workshop and is suitable for beginners. In four hours attendees learn:

  • About the Community Health Maps program

  • To design a data collection form & collect data on their smartphone

  • How to download the collected data and make a map in QGIS

  • How to build an online web map highlighting the data collected

Vector Borne Disease Surveillance

This workshop teaches you about the Community Health Maps workflow. You then learn how to work with some sample mosquito datasets including trap data, house calls and biting complaints. You will learn to calculate the minimum infection rate, create mosquito population heatmaps by species, investigate biting complaints and perform an outbreak response analysis. All the work is done on your own laptop using QGIS GIS software. This is a 2 day workshop.

Introduction to QGIS

Learn the basics of GIS and QGIS including file formats, working with projections, basic analysis, creating a print composition, and more advanced data visualization techniques. This is a three day workshop suitable to beginners.
